NEW: Regulatory Freeze and Regulatory Reductions: Jan. 20, 2017, Reince Priebus, Chief of Staff to President Trump, issued a memorandum to the heads of all federal executive departments and agencies; the directive of the new administration freezes regulatory action pending further review. On Jan. 24, the instruction was published to the Federal Register by the Office of Management and Budget. On Jan. 30, the President signed a separate Executive Order "Reducing Regulations and Controlling Regulatory Costs." Information regarding the impact of these actions on outstanding or pending proposals from the U.S. Coast Guard will be posted to Policy - Federal Register as it becomes available.

The 2017 BLA Workshop will be held March 29-30, in Lexington, Kentucky. Additional meetings, including the Engineering, Reporting & Analysis Committee day-long session, will be conducted that week too. Watch this site for more information.

NASBLA's 58th Annual Conference will be held Sept. 10-13, 2017, in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The latest issue of the Coast Guard Proceedings of the Marine Safety and Security Council (Vol 73, Fall/Winter 2016) is  now available for online reading. The issue features more than 25 articles with the focus on Recreational Boating Safety.
